Several prominent local officials and Republican candidates have agreed to speak at the Lake County Tea Party rally, which will be held on Monday from 1 to 4 p.m. in Cook Park in Libertyville. Among the listed speakers at the Tea Party rally include Libertyville Mayor Terry Weppler, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran, Long Grove Mayor Maria Rodriquez, Dan Sugrue, Republican nominee for Illinois' 59th House District, Lake County Republican Party Chairman Robert Cook, and Michael Carbone, a Grayslake District 46 school board member.
Others who are slated to speak at the event include Lex Green, Libertarian candidate for governor; Constitutional lawyer David Schippers, lead counsel on the Clinton impeachment hearings and trial; Bruno Behrend, former host of the Extreme Wisdom radio show on WKRS; Rosanna Pulido, director of the Illinois Minuteman Project; the Rev. Richard Valkanet, pastor of Living Waters Assembly of God Church in Grayslake; health industry expert Steve Tucker; Randall Stufflebeam, Constitution Party nominee for U.S. Senate; and Julie Fox, Libertarian Party nominee for comptroller. Paul Mitchell, Lake County Tea Party board member and Lake County Right to Life board member, will be master of ceremonies.
Lennie Jarratt, chairman of the Lake County Tea Party, called the rally "a non-partisan event" which will include Republican, Independent and Libertarian speakers. They are also inviting Democratic and Green Party candidates to attend and speak if they choose.
