VA: Independent Green Candidate Stands on Principle rather than with Party

From the Star Exponent:
The Independent Green Party candidate for the Seventh District seat in U.S. Congress visited Culpeper last week to meet with the chairman of the American Conservative Party, a newly formed grassroots group based in Leesburg.

After lunching with the ACP’s Butch Porter at Frost CafĂ©, Floyd Bayne, 52, of Midlothian talked frankly with the Star-Exponent about his deep-rooted views and why he won’t blindly align himself with any party, including the one that will show up beside his name on the ballot in November.

Originally set to run as an independent, Bayne accepted the Independent Green Party of Virginia’s endorsement a few weeks ago because he needed access to their political infrastructure as he prepares to face incumbent Rep. Eric Cantor, the five-term incumbent who is the No. 2 Republican in the U.S. House.
