MS: Independents Seek Gubernatorial Seat

Independent candidate Will Oatis, 37, was born in raised in Silver Creek. He has a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Southern Mississippi. He spent 20 years in the U.S. armed forces including three combat tours in Afghanistan over the span of eight years. Oatis has more than 20 military awards, including a Bronze Star, a Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal and the Global War on Terror Service Medal.  . . . .

Reform candidate Bobby Kearan moved to Mississippi at the age of 10. He grew up in Winston County and attended Louisville High School. He is a “computer guy” who lives in Rankin County and works for a Mississippi-based financial institution. He manages its software security updates.

His campaign motto is “One of the People, for the People” and he approaches his candidacy from the perspective of a working man.

Kearan, 39, supports cuts that would leave a smaller, more efficient government, and state payroll reductions more aligned with the state’s median income.

The Democratic-Republican Masquerade Party

For the last several decades during election season, Candidates and Incumbents alike, campaign on fiscal responsibility and the protection of civil liberties. Year after year and election cycle after election cycle, these people are voted into office. But as soon as they’re elected, they take off their libertarian mask and revert back to their true identities, where the Government is the cure-all for most of societies’ woes.

What amazes me most, is not that they wear such cool disguises (I mean, afterall, who wouldn’t want to be called a libertarian?), but rather how many people don’t see it as a disguise. Year after year people are duped by these disguises. This year, the Republicans candidates are promising to be good little libertarians, and a lot of people believe them. The question the voters have to ask is, are they really promising fiscal responsibility and protection of civil liberties,….., or is it just a Halloween disguise?

Fortunately for us, a lot of the Republican incumbents have a voting record we can look at to determine if they’re truly interested in liberty of the individual, or if they just became more libertarian in order to get your vote.

On November 2nd, please vote Libertarian. Do not cast your vote on a disguise. Libertarians are the real deal. They are uncompromising in their defense of liberty. The Libertarian Party is known as the Party of Principle. We are called this because we are unwavering on the principles of liberty, both the economic liberty of the individual, as well as the civil, or social liberty of the individual. Libertarians believe in liberty,….period.

MS: Constitution Party candidate, Giaramita, profiled in Desoto Times

Gail Giaramita, a Constitution Party candidate in the 1st U.S. Congressional District race, said America needs to "turn back to God" and adhere to the tenets of the U.S. Constitution.  In her DeSoto Times-Tribune editorial board interview, she opened her remarks with a prayer.

Giaramita previously ran for Mississippi State Representative as a Republican. "We have storms coming," Giaramita said. "If we don't turn back to God quickly, we won't have the foundation we need to face them."  Giaramita called for less government intervention in the lives of ordinary Americans.  "The framing fathers envisioned we would be in control of our own lives and our money," she said.

MS: Tea Party Group to Host Debate Including Third Party and Independent Candidates

The Tea Party of Mississippi is hosting the first debate of the campaign season Tuesday in Southaven for candidates running in the First Congressional District race.  The debate, which is open to all candidates, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. inside the DeSoto Central High School gymnasium on Getwell Road in Southaven . . .


Independent candidates are A.G. Baddley, Hernando; Rick "Rico" Hoskins, Batesville; Les Green and Wally Pang, Batesville. The Constitution Party candidate is Gail Giaramita, a Mid-South health care professional, of Lake Cormorant.  Libertarian candidate Harold M. Taylor of Hernando, who has run for office on the Libertarian platform in the past, also qualified to run in the First Congressional District race.

MS: Independent to Run for Congress in 1st District

Les Green said he can do the math, and the two mainstream political parties have "sent this country into trillions of dollars of debt." Green, a DeSoto County math teacher and father of three, says he's making an independent run for Congress to ensure that future generations aren't saddled with debt. He launched his candidacy for U.S. Representative from the First Congressional District this past week.

"Both parties promise they'll do better - as soon as they regain power," Green said. "But even then, nothing changes. They bicker while our nation stumbles. It's time to do something different. It's time for Independent leaders in Congress whose only interest is yours."

MS: Constitution Party Activist to Run for US House

Gail Giaramita, a Mid-South health care professional and a former Republican Party candidate for Mississippi state Representative, has filed qualifying papers to run as a Constitution Party candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives.  “I believe America is at a crossroads,” Giaramita said. “The situation in our country has really deteriorated. I believe we were founded on Judeo-Christian principles. I believe we need to return to our Judeo-Christian foundation.”
