They are known as the Coastal Empire Constitution Party. The group meets the third Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at Savannah Joe, 920-G Morgan's Corner Rd. in Pooler. The meeting consists of announcements of upcoming legislation of issues such as illegal immigration, voting fraud, tax increases, health care, gun control, education and privacy rights.
This is followed by a 30-minute video teaching the participants about the U.S. Constitution. The video includes a question-and-answer periodwhich engages the audience in a conversational format.
Many in the group are fed-up with the status quo of government and a two-party system which seems to be growing more and more into a government of one party with a disregard for the rights of the individual. It is a fight against collectivism at all levels of government.
The national Constitution Party originally started in 1992 as the U.S. Taxpayer Party. As the group grew and the need arose for a defined mission, the leaders of the party turned to the truths found in the U.S. Constitution . . .
The group hopes to turn its enthusiasm into action by getting candidates elected to office on the local level, and use this as a proving ground to propel the candidates to higher office in years to come. The progressive movement laid the seeds of its organization in the 1960s and waited 40 years to see its dreams come true.
