OH: Green Forced to Run as Independent on a Technicality

Patrick R. Saunders will run as an independent candidate for the Ohio Senate’s 13th District in the 2010 general election in November.  Saunders will take on incumbent Democrat Sue Morano of Lorain and Republican challenger Gayle Manning of North Ridgeville . . . This week the Huron County Board of Elections removed Saunders from the ballot for the May primary. He ran as a Green Party candidate but the elections board ruled his petitions were invalid because a petition circulator was a Democrat, which was not allowed under Ohio elections law.  See more on this story in tomorrow’s edition of The Morning Journal.
