MA: Independent Cahill Gaining on Republican and Democrat

From Enterprise News:
Three is a party, but two is a crowd – especially when votes are at stake. Now that state Treasurer Timothy Cahill has shown he won’t stay on the sidelines as an independent candidate in the governor’s race, he and Republican Charlie Baker are battling over conservatives’ votes in a bid to unseat Gov. Deval Patrick. . . .
The latest poll numbers on the race show Cahill, a Quincy resident, gaining ground on Baker over the past month. In February, a Suffolk University poll put them a few percentage points apart, with Cahill a close third behind Baker. The most recent poll numbers – released by the Rasmussen Report on Wednesday – show Baker’s lead over Cahill narrowing.  A telephone survey of likely voters found that 23 percent would vote for Cahill. That’s up from 19 percent in a Rasmussen survey in March. For the same period, Baker fell from 32 to 27 percent. Patrick remained steady with 35 percent.
