SC: Ten Candidates Seek Green Party Nomination at Upcoming State Convention

Columbia, SC - The South Carolina Green Party submitted paperwork with the state election commission before the noon April 9th deadline from ten candidates hoping to be on November's ballot as the Green nominee. All will face a vote at the party's nominating convention, scheduled for May 1st in Columbia.

Morgan Bruce Reeves is seeking the party's nomination for Governor. Leslie Minerd hopes to be on the ballot in the race for Attorney General, and Doretha Bull intends to secure the nod for State Superintendent of Education.

At the federal level, Tom Clements is seeking the nomination for U.S. Senate. Robert Dobbs is running for the party's nomination in the state's 1st Congressional District. C. Faye Walters is working to win a slot in the 4th Congressional District. Nammu Y Muhammad is intent on securing the party nomination in the 6th Congressional District.

The state legislature is also on the party's agenda thanks to three candidates from across the state. D.C. Swinton hopes to win the nomination in the 24th House District, Christopher Jones in the 74th, and Eugene Platt is running for the 115th.

From the Lowcountry through the Midlands and into the Upstate, this is the largest number of candidates the South Carolina Green Party has ever offered. It also represents the party's diversity of membership with three female and five Black candidates. [Emphasis added.]
