The public's disenchantment with both major parties was reflected in the final sign-up sheets for federal offices. No less than 13 "no party affiliate" candidates qualified for Congress, along with three Tea Party members, a Libertarian, one from the Constitution Party of Florida and a Miami man who qualified as a Whig.
There were also a handful of write-ins, self-designated candidates who pay no qualifying fee and don't appear on the ballot. The minor-party candidates and NPAs will go on the November ballot, bypassing the Aug. 24 Democratic and Republican primaries.
