Florida Tea Party Faults "One-Party Rule" in GOP Finance Scandal

A press release from the Florida Tea Party, on the news that Ex-Florida GOP Chairman Jim Greer has been arrested.  Sent via email:
“History teaches that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely,” TEA PARTY Chairman Fred O’Neal commented on the indictment and arrest of Jim Greer, former Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida. “The Republican party has been running the State of Florida for years now. Is it any wonder that such one party rule has resulted in a culture of corruption where GOP officials like Greer feel they are above the law,” stated O’Neal.

“To think Greer will be the only Republican caught up in this scandal is naïve. Greer didn’t act alone. In fact, Greer couldn’t act alone. It’s, therefore, only a matter of time before the roles of leading Republicans like Attorney General Bill McCollum , Rep’s Dean Cannon and Chris Dorworth, and Sen’s Haridopolous and Thrasher come to light,” O’Neal added. “The truth just has a way of bubbling up to the surface,” he concluded.

The TEA PARTY is an official political party in the State of Florida and is authorized by the Secretary of State to file TEA PARTY candidates in the November 2010 general election.  The official ballot designation is TEA which will follow the name of each TEA candidate.  The Florida TEA PARTY is the first in the nation to obtain new party status.

The TEA PARTY is currently fielding three nominees for congressional seats and intends to file as many as a dozen or more candidates for the Florida Legislature and other elected positions prior to the qualifying deadline of June 18, 2010.
