On the Recent History of the AIP and Constitution Party

From a post at Constitution Party News, which also provides updates on the AIP/CP candidate for governor, Chelene Nightingale:
The Story Up To Now... In 1992, the American Independent Party of California, which was already 24 years old, became a charter state affiliate of the brand new US Taxpayers Party founded by Howard Phillips, which, in 1999, changed its name to the Constitution Party. The American Independent Party (AIP) provided a large electoral base and political experience which provided a strong foundation on which to build the emerging national US Taxpayers Party. The California party provided the second national chairman for the US Taxpayers Party in the person of the incomparable William K. Shearer and a large base of faithful activists who usually provided the largest delegation to any national meeting or convention.
