What do the Colbert Report, NPR and the Wall Street Journal have in common? Independents make up the largest share of their audiences

The Pew Research Center's survey of American news consumption habits finds that independents make up the largest share of the audience for the Colbert Report, NPR and the Wall Street Journal. According to the poll:
• the Colbert Report's audience is 41% Independent, 39% Democratic and 14% Republican
• NPR's audience is 41% Independent, 40% Democratic and 14% Republican
• the Wall Street Journal's audience is 41% Independent, 36% Republican and 22% Democratic
