Thousands Protest the Democrat-Republican Global Warfare State

On April 9th, thousands of anti-war protesters gathered in New York City to protest the ongoing wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya supported by the Democratic and Republican parties.  Numerous third party and independent political organizations participated in the events.  Among the speakers were Howie Hawkins of the Green Party, Charles Barron of the Freedom Party and Cindy Sheehan, who challenged Nancy Pelosi as a third party candidate in the 2008 elections.  Video of their remarks can be found below.

If folks understood the political-economy of war then anti-war folks would give a lot more attention to strategic electoral reform.

But perfectionism is counter-productive, as usual!

Cindy Sheehan actually got an impressive finish when she ran against Nancy Pelosi, something like 16% Shame she didn't build upon that and run again.

I know from my interactions with Cindy that she went in debt badly with her run against Pelosi. In general, she tends to run up debts and then ask supporters to help her out with them.

Me, I think anti-war folks waste too much energy/time on combatting the current armed conflicts and not enough being strategic about subverting the iron triangle behind the US's pronounced imperialistic tendencies.

I also heard from someone who worked with her closely she just assumed support would come her way automatically, campaign mistake 101. Still, she showed an impressive return, and if she was committed, I'd have jolted up to San Fran to help her out on her next run.

I personally do not believe Cindy grieved adequately the death of her son Casey and that she's been prone to get too angry at folks in authority and to make some poor decisions due to the dysfunctional neurological effects of her anger and failure to forgive.

I don't know her closely enough to comment about her grieving her loss, and I'm in no position to engage in conjecture, and frankly, I seriously doubt you are either. I'd refrain from such comments in the future if I were you.

@ DLW: "I personally do not believe Cindy grieved adequately the death of her son Casey"

WTF? WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?! Please spare us your pseudo-scientific psychoanalysis.

I did dialogue some with Cindy in the past and have followed her public career.

I'm not trash-talking her and her intents and hopefully I'm wrong but I do not believe I am.

@DLW

"Dialoging some" and "following her public career" aren't likely sufficient for sufficient psychoanalysis, in fact, it wouldn't even matter how much you know her, that's between her and her therapist and/or psychologist.

You should keep such "observations" to yourself, because frankly, you just come off as an arrogant asshole by doing so.

The signs from serious emotional trauma aren't exactly rocket science and if ignored lead to unintended bad consequences for progressive causes but I will accede to your perceptions on the matter.

Disagreements &/or criticisms of one's organizing tactics &/or strategies is fine. I have plenty towards Ms. Sheehan, particularly her newfound cynicism and completely dropping out of the political arena. I think it's a shame she didn't build upon what she started in regards to running against Pelosi. But there's a difference between that and evoking one's dead child and the circumstances thereof to level a criticism, and it's going to naturally bring forth rather strong emotions in your direction. In other words, it's best to practice decorum in these rather sensitive matters.

My apologies for my harsh words in my earlier comment.
