CA: Laura Wells to Seek Green Party Nomination for Governor

News Blaze reports that Laura Wells will formally announce her bid for the nomination of the California Green Party to seek the office of governor, Tuesday in Sacramento:
Laura Wells - who garnered nearly a half million votes in a run for State Controller in 2002 - will announce she is running for the Green Party of California nomination for Governor Tuesday here at the State Capitol.

Ms Wells will make the announcement at a news conference TUESDAY, at 11 a.m. at the CAPITOL (South Steps). She will be available for informal interviews at 10:30 a.m.
Ms. Wells, 62, is a former financial and business analyst. Her 420,000 vote count in 2002 is the most any state Green Party candidate has received in a partisan statewide race.

Ralph Nader got 418,707 votes for president in California as a Green, and Laura Wells got 419,873 for California Controller in 2002, so they virtually tied for the Green record for a statewide partisan race in California.
