MI: Detroit Greens Prepare for National Meeting

From the Detroit Green Party:
The Green Party will feature former national nominees, state and local candidates for 2010, officeholders and other special guests during press conferences planned to take place at the party's 2010 Annual National Meeting at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. The meeting will take place from Thursday, June 24, to Sunday, June 27.

The schedule of media events, which is subject to change, is appended below. For more information about the Green Party meeting's schedule of events, registration, and lodging, visit the web site (http://greenpartymeeting2010.wordpress.com). The Media Credentialing page is also online (http://www.gp.org/forms/media). Reporters are encouraged to register ahead of time, but media registration will also take place on-site.

Rosa Clemente, 2008 vice-presidential nominee, and David Cobb, 2004 presidential nominee, are among the press conference speakers. Both are also participating in the US Social Forum (http://www.ussf2010.org), which convenes in Detroit from June 22 to 26.

242 Green candidates have announced their races so far in 2010. Green candidates for governor, Congress, and various local offices and Green officeholders from across the US will speak at the press conferences, with a special spotlight for candidates from Michigan and the Detroit area.
On Saturday evening, the Green Party will host a Health Care Panel with Margaret Flowers of Physicians for a National Health Program (http://www.pnhp.org), Kevin Zeese of VoteForPeace.us (http://www.voteforpeace.us), and others to be announced. Mr. Zeese is also a former Green candidate for the US Senate, having run in Maryland in 2006. The Health Care Panel is open to the media and the public.

The slogan for the Green Party meeting is "Another US is possible, another party is necessary" -- similar to the Social Forum motto, "Another world is possible." National, state, and local Green Party leaders, candidates, and many others will attend the Detroit meeting, which will be hosted by local Greens and the Green Party of Michigan (http://www.migreens.org). For more information about meeting events, contact the Green Party's national office at office@gp.org or 1-866-41-GREEN.
Online live-streaming will broadcast the press conferences and many other events at the meeting.
